    Dispatch Text:

    On February 13, 2024, at 2:45 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a 911 call that an avalanche had occurred east of the Seward Highway near mile 41 in the Chugach National Forest. Three adult male backcountry skiers were ascending a mountain to ski back down when they triggered an avalanche and were all swept away. Two of the adult males were able to self-rescue; however, the third skier was unaccounted for. The two backcountry skiers were able to locate the missing skier, dug him out of the avalanche, and began performing life-saving measures, which were ultimately not successful. The Alaska State Troopers, US Forest Service Law Enforcement, Cooper Landing EMS, and Moose Pass EMS responded to the area. The two adult men who survived were transported to a Kenai Peninsula area hospital for treatment of their injuries. The third man is identified as 28-year-old Anchorage resident Joseph Allen. Allen’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage, and his next of kin have been notified.

    On February 14, 2024 at approximately 1154 hours, Pretrial Enforcement Division Officers contacted MatCom and requested AST respond to assist with a defendant who was violating his conditions. AST responded, where investigation resulted in the arrest of Joseph Haynes, age 21 of Wasilla. Joseph was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was remanded on one count of Violating Conditions of Release, and one count of DV Unlawful Contact I.

    On February 14, 2024 at approximately 2100 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to Castle Drive in Houston for a report of a suspicious person. AST contacted David Burch in the area. A routine check of APSINindicated Burch had an active felony warrant for Second Degree Theft (REF:3PA-23-01496CR). Burch was arrested and remanded to Mat Su Pre-Trial where he was held on $50 bail.

    On 2/10/2024, at approximately 1655 hours, AST and WPD responded to the area of Fairview Loop and Hayfield Rd for a report of a vehicle that had gone into the ditch, with a male walking away. WPD was able to locate the male approximately 1 mile away, following his footprints from the vehicle. The male, identified as Michael Epchook, age 31 of Wasilla, was arrested for DUI and, after failing to provide a sufficient breath sample, was charged with Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. After receiving medical clearance, Epchook was remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial, where he was held until sober and then released on his own recognizance.

    UPDATE 2/14/24: On October 6, 2023, at approximately 4:05 am the Alaska State Troopers responded to reports of an assault in Wasilla. When Troopers arrived, they located 36-year-old Wasilla resident Jacob Wodkowski with a gunshot wound to the head. Wodkowski was transported to an Anchorage area hospital for life-threatening injuries. Mat-Su Valley law enforcement initiated a “manhunt” for a person of interest, identified as 38-year-old Wasilla resident Dustin Peters, who had fled the scene. Dustin was located on 10/07/23 and arrested for an unrelated warrant, as well as new charges of Misconduct Involving a Weapon, Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances, and Theft. Jacob remained in medical care since the shooting and ultimately succumbed to his injury on January 24, 2024. An autopsy was conducted, and the State Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the gunshot wound ultimately led to Jacob’s death. On February 13, 2024, Investigators with the Alaska Bureau of Investigation’s South Central Major Crimes charged Dustin Peters with Murder 1 and Murder 2 for the death of Jacob Wodkowski. Peters has been in the custody of the Alaska Department of Corrections since his arrest in October.

    UPDATE 10/7/23: On October 7, at 12:30 pm, Dustin Peters was taken into custody by Alaska State Troopers after receiving a tip with his location.

    ORIGINAL:The Alaska State Troopers are currently looking for 38-year-old Wasilla resident Dustin Peters who has an active felony warrant for his arrest. Peters is also a suspect in a violent felony crime that recently occurred in Wasilla. Peters was last seen in the Mat-Su Valley on the morning of October 6, 2023, driving a 2019 dark red Ford F150 with Alaska plate JRN648. Troopers have been unable to locate Peters and are asking for the public’s help. If you have information about Peters’ current location, please contact the Alaska State Troopers at (907) 352-5401. If you see Peters call 911 immediately; do not approach him, he is considered armed and dangerous.     On 02/14/2024 at approximately 0038 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a vehicle v moose collision on Inlet Vistas Drive near Knik Goose Bay Road in Wasilla. No injuries were reported and minor damage to the vehicle. The moose was donated to a charity.

    On 02/13/2024 at approximately 2311 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately call on Bogard Road near Tait Drive in Wasilla. The suspect vehicle went in the ditch prior to AST arrival. Investigation led to the arrest of Michelle Dehart, age 31 of Palmer, for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol. Dehart was remanded to the custody of the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she will be released on her own recognizance when sober.

    On 02/14/2024 at approximately 2000 hours, Alaska State Troopers located and arrested Matthias Sturgeon, age 37 of Wasilla, for an outstanding arrest warrant on the original charges of Burglary I, Theft II, and Criminal Trespass I. Sturgeon was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held on $1000 bail.

    On 02/13/2024 at approximately 1157 hours, Troopers in Fairbanks responded to the area of Chena Ridge for a report of an active domestic disturbance. Investigation raveled that Rozina Akhter (45) of FL committed the offense of Assault in the 4th degree, Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree and Unlawful contact in the 2nd degree. Rozina was arrested without incident and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

    On 02/13/2024 at 2315 hours The Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks conducted a traffic stop on the Johansen Exp. near Peger Rd. The Driver was identified as Eileen Henry. A routine check showed Eileen had Four warrants and was absconding from justice for about two years. Eileen was remanded at Fairbanks Correctional Center without incident.

    On 2/13/2024 at about 1124 hours, the Fairbanks Criminal Suppression Unit and Fairbanks Adult Probation arrested Jedediah Chase, 21 of Fairbanks on an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to comply with his conditions of probation. This was Chase's fourth Petition to Revoke Probation from his original charge of Attempted Arson 2. Chase was remanded to FCC on $10,000 bail.

    On 2/13/2024 at about 1450 hours, the Fairbanks Criminal Suppression Unit and Fairabnks Adult Probation arrested Eugina Crow, 40 of Fairbanks on an outstanding arrest warrant in North Pole. Crow's warrant was for Escape in the Third Degree and Violation of Conditions of Release after she cut off her ankle monitor, while she was on Adult Probation Supervision for Conspiracy to commit Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Misconducted Involving a Weapons in the Fifth Degree. Crow was remanded to FCC on $100,000 bail.

    On 2/14/2024 Fairbanks received a call of a suspicious vehicle in the area of the Ester transfer site. Troopers later learned Daniel Thompson (33) of Fairbanks was in the vehicle. Daniel was on pre-trial conditions and was later located and arrested for violating those conditions. When located, Daniel was in contact with a household member he was court ordered not to. Daniel was remanded to FCC without incident.

    On 02/13/2024, the FairbanksPolice Departmentreceiveda report that a vehicle had crashed into a house near College Rd., damaging a portion of the structure. The driver then exited and fled on foot into the nearby neighborhood. Investigation indicatedthat Curtis Noble, 41, of Fairbanks was thefleeing driver. Noble had an outstanding $1000 misdemeanor arrest warrant for Failure to Comply with Conditions of Release(ref. 3PA-23-01207CR). The original charges for these conditions of release wereDUI, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance5th Degree,Driving While License Revoked, and Violating Conditions of Release.

    The Fairbanks Criminal Suppression Unit (CSU) responded to the area of the vehicle crash and began tracking Noble. CSU developed information that Rasheem Morgan, 40, of Fairbanks had picked up Noble from in the area following the crash. Morgan had an outstanding $1000 felony arrest warrant for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on the original charge of Theft 2nd Degree (ref. 4FA-23-02247CR) . CSU then began tracking both Noble and Morgan.

    On February 14, 2024, at approximately 1115 hours, CSU located Noble hiding in the back of a vehicle attempting to evade detection by CSU. While searching the vehicle, CSU located a female hiding underneath a pile of clothes and garbage. The female was identified as Vanessa Lind-Carlson, 30, of Fairbanks who had an outstanding $1000 misdemeanor arrest warrant for Failure to Appear for Pre-Trial Conference Hearing on the original charges of Criminal Trespass 1st Degree and Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree. Noble and Lind-Carlson were taken into custody without incident.

    Later that day, at approximately 1430 hours, CSU located Morgan in the area of Gold Rush Estates in the vehicle believed to have picked up Noble after the vehicle crash the day before. Morgan was also taken into custody without incident.

    Noble, Morgan, and Lind-Carlson, were all remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center on their warrants.

    On 02/14/2024 Troopers located Curtis Noble (41) of Fairbanks who had an active warrant for his arrest. While Troopers were in contact with Curtis, they noticed him consuming controlled substances. Curtis was arrested and during a search incident to arrest more controlled substances were located on his person. Curtis was remanded at FCC without incident.

Lind-Carlsons original charge was Criminal Trespass in the First Degree and Second Degree. Lind-Carlson was transported to FCC and bail was set at $1000.00.
