I just bought the game, and i was wondering if anyone has a good newbie class recommendation. I always get paralyzed by character creation.

I am debating start a rogue or a cipher since they both seem awesome.

There is a lot of good cipher build advice, but i don't see anything for recommended starting stats for a decent rogue. How do i rogue?

I picked labourer, since it gives mechanics. Should i give my self more int? Or anything?

Is there some sort of threshold for conversations when it comes to these stats? (E.g. the majority of conversations require atleast 15 resolve)? I could gimp my self and balance out my stats a little bit better in terms of resolve/perception, but i don't know if it is really going to do very much.

You can always drop some points from Might and Dex, you'll do plenty of damage even with 15-18 in those stats. As the guy talking about paladins mentioned, your party members will always do fighting but they'll never do talking.

And I emphasize that attribute-checked dialogue options aren't always better than others nor are they remotely in every conversation, so don't sweat it too much. These other guys have given a pretty good picture of what kind of dialogue choices you get with those stats, so go with whatever you think suits your character.


If i just picked lets say resolve and pumped that up a little bit i should be fine?

Is there a decent explanation for what the varying personality options are supposed to reflect and do they really have any effect? Half the time i am jumping around between different traits simply because the options seem like they will get me somewhere.

I don't know if i am under leveled or what, but i am having the hardest time in the Dyrford Ruins. I am level 5, is that too low for this area? Every single battle is basically life or death, and has me dumping my entire arsenal of spells trying to take down some enemies.

Also my cipher keeps dying constantly, archers are the bane of his existence, and constantly focus fire him down.

What kind of talents should i give to level 6 Aloth and Durance? Aloth has been using pistols and Durance has been using a Arbalest. None of the defensive talents seem super useful, and i don't know if 2 handed weapons work with ranged weapons.
