What to Know

Critics Consensus

Despite some surprising twists, Scream 3 sees the franchise falling back on the same old horror formulas and cliches it once hacked and slashed with postmodern abandon.

Scream 3 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Sezín Koehler Bitch Media Actually a scathing indictment of how women are treated behind-the-scenes in Hollywood. Mar 5, 2021 Full Review Scream 3 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Jack Mathews New York Daily News The series is already so dense with internal references and exposition that it's on the verge of becoming more of a trivia game than a movie series. Still, for the initiated, the third time's a charm. For everyone else, it's just a scream. Not so good is the absence of hip cross-references to the classic horror tropes. First name L This is the one doesn't cut as deep; once Scream catches up to the culture there are fewer opportunities to innovate or surprise. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/09/24 Full Review Lucas S O filme não é bom, mais o assassino aqui é insano. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Gianvito A I think that 90% of the Scream fanbase thinks that this is the worst movie of the franchise but i disagree, i liked it and the killer is my favorite of the franchise Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/24 Full Review Josh G A fun premise and worthy follow up the original, The twists and plot brings something fresh to horror genre and despite scheduling issues the lack of Neve Campbell works well for me bring new faces to the franchise and bloodier kills, It's smart clever and well done. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/28/24 Full Review Chloe A Unfortunately, this movie is greatly underrated, and all for the wrong reasons. Although it brings nothing bizarre or greatly new to the franchise, it completes Sidney's story on a rather solid level and shouldn't be downgraded because it stuck to what made the first two movies so great. Actually, this movie should be applauded for sticking to what audiences from the previous two movies liked. They actually built upon that and added more depth to Sidney's character, reinforced by Neve's remarkable performance. It's a great finish to the trilogy, and it definitely shouldn't be disregarded, except for Courtney Cox's bangs... Those were a mess... Otherwise, it's well thought out and has its intense moments, really building up as you get further into the story. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/25/24 Full Review Samuel S It's worth a watch if you've seen the first 2. Definitely the weakest of the trilogy by a long shot. It was kind of boring for the first 2/3's, lacking the tension and intrigue the first 2 had. The final act saved the movie for me, it was a bit more fun and interesting. It is not scary at all, with way too many cheap jump scares that seem like they were suppose to be comedic rather then scary. It's also not very funny. It's ok. Maybe I'll do a deeper dive why it didn't work like the first 2. It's not bad, just kind of eh. Cinematography was fantastic though. Gorgeous looking film.
